Fall Risk Management

There are many reasons why older adults fall.  These reasons are called "risk factors".  While falls can't be prevented in a general sense, there are actions older adults and their families can take to identify their individual risk factors.  These actions are called "interventions" and are proven strategies/approaches that can reduce the chance of a fall.

AGS 2023 Beers Criteria

This guideline is used by healthcare providers to improve the safety of medication use in older adults.  It lists medications that may be inappropriate or pose higher risks of side effects for people aged 65 and older.  The Beers Criteria serves as a valuable tool for clinicians, caregivers, and patients to make informed decisions, reduce adverse drug events, and promote safer, more effective treatment plans for older adults.
